Dr Farzeela Rupani
BSc BDS MSc CGDent Associate Fellow
Dr Farzeela Rupani has spent more than two decades shaping dentistry from every angle that matters: the clinic chair, the lecture theatre, the regulatory chamber, the management consultant’s office, and now the boardroom. As Chief Medical Officer of Colosseum Dental Group (CDG), she leads the clinical and commercial strategy of one of Europe’s largest dental organisations—650+ clinics across 11 countries, generating €1.3 billion in revenue, serving six million patients a year, supported by 3,800 dentists and 1,400 hygienists. CDG was a finalist in the Fortune Top 100 Best Companies to Work For in Europe 2025, a recognition that reflects the culture Farzeela and her leadership team have deliberately built.
Her clinical foundation is broad and hands-on. Farzeela trained at King’s College London and has practised across general dentistry, orthodontics, facial aesthetics, and implant restoration in both NHS and private settings —experience that gives her the frontline credibility to engage clinicians as a peer rather than a directive from above. She deepened her strategic toolkit with a BSc in Medical Sciences with Management and an MSc in International Health Management from Imperial College London Business School, before building a career that has touched almost every lever in the dental system.
Prior to joining CDG, she taught undergraduate dental students at Guy’s Hospital, consulted within KPMG’s Healthcare Advisory Practice, spent nine years within the Fitness to Practise division at the General Dental Council (UK dental regulator), and served as Clinical Director at Dental Directory, the UK’s second largest dental products and services distributor. Each chapter sharpened a different discipline; together they gave her the range that her current role demands.
The results at CDG are the clearest measure of what integrated clinical and commercial leadership looks like in practice. When Farzeela joined, dentist churn in the UK business stood at 60 percent. Three years later it was down to11 percent – through a combination of retention-focused culture, structured professional and productivity focused development, and personalised clinician reporting that gives practitioners direct, regular access to their own performance data. The UK business carried a negative EBITDA on her arrival; it has since grown to positive double-digit territory, driven by disciplined improvements in recruitment, capacity, treatment mix, and production per hour. Colosseum Dental UK is now ranked in the top ten places to work in the UK in healthcare. Her excellent work in the UK division of the business led to her promotion to a European Group wide role.
Same-store growth—the most rigorous measure of organic performance—reflects the same trajectory. By focusing clinical teams on reservation rates, available hours, and average billing per clinician, and by embedding advanced training programmes that directly expand treatment capability, Farzeela has turned productivity from a compliance conversation into a clinician-owned ambition.
Technology sits at the centre of her vision for CDG’s next chapter. She has championed the integration of AI-assisted diagnostics, digital workflows, and intraoral scanning across CDG’s markets, and is currently leading the group’s evaluation of AI clinical scribe solutions and central PACS architecture—initiatives designed to reduce administrative burden on clinicians and improve data-driven decision-making at scale. She has also advised robotics companies on their route to market within the DSO environment, bringing an operator’s perspective to emerging technologies that are still finding their clinical footing.
Farzeela’s remit extends well beyond the UK. Across CDG’s 11 markets she has led the standardisation of clinical governance frameworks, overseen cross-border recruitment programmes to strengthen capacity in underserved and rural communities, and built L&D infrastructure that operates pan-European. She is actively involved in M&A integration work, bringing clinical due diligence and post-acquisition cultural alignment into processes.
She sits on the Faculty Board for the College of General Dentistry (UK), the Advisory Board for Women in DSO, and the Global Advisory Board for RipeGlobal, and is an international Ambassador for the American Association of Artificial Intelligence in Dentistry. She is a regular international speaker and an active mentor to the next generation of dental leaders.
Her broader vision is straightforward but ambitious. Dentistry should function not as a standalone healthcare silo but as a cornerstone of systemic health—connected to medical care, informed by data, and accessible across the income spectrum. She is building the infrastructure at CDG to make that vision operational, market by market, clinic by clinic.
