Among the many benefits of a membership with The Female Dentist is access to invaluable advice from the eclectic array of Board Members. Whether seeking clinical support or an insight into managing your first dental practice, an experienced mentor is just a message away.
Dr Sarika Shah graduated in 2006 and has over 15 years of experience in clinical practice. After completing a Master’s degree in Restorative Dentistry, she spent three years in private practice then became the Principal of Platinum Dental Care, located in Canary Wharf.
Dr Shah is passionate about minimally invasive cosmetic dentistry and has created hundreds of natural-looking smiles with Invisalign. Alongside this, she has founded Flourish as a Female – In Dentistry, a self-leadership course that empowers women across the field of dentistry. Already an advocate for positive change, Dr Shah details the value of The Female Dentist network:
“The Female Dentist provides mentoring and support but it also fosters real community. From practical career guidance and restorative dentistry discussions, to workshops on wellbeing, mindset, and self-leadership, the network is a comprehensive support system. It offers a safe space to address the unique challenges women face in a traditionally male-dominated field, helping them to navigate career transitions, build confidence, and sustain a balanced life.
“One of the most powerful roles the network plays is helping women dentists realise they are not alone. Whether navigating maternity leave, starting a practice, dealing with workplace bias, or just trying to juggle life’s many demands, the community offers solidarity and strength. The conversations we facilitate allow vulnerability and ambition to coexist – which is where real growth happens.”
As a Board Member of The Female Dentist, Dr Shah reflects on the position and what she can offer members of the network:
“Throughout my career I have been supporting women to thrive both professionally and personally. When the opportunity arose to become a Board Member of The Female Dentist network, it felt like a natural extension of my mission. I joined to contribute to a powerful, collaborative platform that uplifts and connects women in dentistry – a space where they can feel seen, heard, and supported.
“My work sits at the intersection of dentistry and coaching. Through Flourish as a Female, I support women with tailored wellbeing and performance coaching, as well as deep mindset work and self-leadership development. For members of The Female Dentist, I can guide you through everything from managing the pressures of clinical practice, to overcoming imposter syndrome and burnout. I can also offer insights into how to sustain a long-term clinical career with purpose, joy and financial reward – particularly in restorative dentistry but also as a practice principal and a mother, which can be both technically demanding and deeply rewarding.
“I hope the legacy of The Female Dentist network will be one of transformation. I want future generations of women in dentistry to not only feel included, but influential in shaping the profession in more diverse, compassionate, and sustainable ways. Our goal is to shift the narrative from surviving in dentistry to truly flourishing within it.
“The Female Dentist is more than a board or a community – it’s a movement. It stands for collaboration over competition, support over silence, and growth over perfection. I’m proud to be part of something that challenges the status quo and champions every woman’s potential – both inside and outside the clinic.”
